In a wheelchair? You can still date!

Whether you were born with a disability or had an accident or crippling disease you now find yourself in a wheelchair.   This can seriously restrict your mobility and your socialising.  We cannot minimise the impact that wheelchair life has but it is important to realise that the modern era has opened up many more opportunities in communication.  With a laptop in front of you you have a window onto the world.   With that innovation comes the possibility to socialise either virtually with webchat or in person by meeting people you contact through websites and chatrooms.

We called this blog 'wheelchair dating' which is a general term for meeting people when you are disabled or have mobility problems.   A friend of mine reading my words asked if this was a blog for amorous wheelchairs! LOL  no, this is not for wheelchairs that wish to date but for people in wheelchairs who want to date LOL.

One of the most inspirational things I have come across concerning people in wheelchairs is the work of Sue Austin who is a performance artists confined to a wheelchair through illness.  She has made an inspirational life by stretching the limits of a wheelchair into the depths of the ocean.  Have a look at this amazing TED video.

If Sue Austin can do it then the possibility is there.  Naturally we are not all video stars or deep sea divers but we can use the web to expand our horizons with suitable disabled UK sites like http://www.disabilitymatch.co.uk or www.disabledunited.co.uk.

Sites such as these make wheelchair dating and socialising a real possibility.
